Today marks the one year anniversary since the first same sex couple was allowed to marry within the District of Washington D.C. When the law that made such weddings lawful was passed, many people claimed it would spell the end to marriage and society. In fact, the opposite has happened. The Washington posts finds that the number of marriage licenses  issued within the District has doubled from previous years from 3,100 to over 6,600.  Congratulations D.C. for supporting marriage!
